Cardiac Catherization Laboratory

Our heart and vascular imaging and therapeutic center is a unique place. It's one of only a couple in the country that have assembled and integrated the most advanced heart and vascular imaging equipment in the world – all in one center, all on one floor.  This allows our physicians to view exquisite 3-D images of a patient's entire heart and vascular system, as well as access and treat areas of the body that previously could not have been reached. These advanced capabilities, which are not available anywhere else in South Carolina, allow MUSC Heart & Vascular Center to offer patients an unparalleled level of care.

The cardiac catheterization laboratories at the center are staffed around the clock. Patients with chest pain are fast-tracked into the center for immediate care and, if necessary, emergency cardiac catheterization and angioplasty.  This protocol for expediting patients with chest pain is the most effective way to preserve heart tissue during a heart attack and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
