Storm Eye Institute : Storm Eye Institute : Craig Crosson, PhD

Dr. Craig E. Crosson is Professor and Vice Chairman for Research in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), as well as Director of the Ola B. Williams Glaucoma Therapeutic Development Center at MUSC and Director of Research at the Albert Florens Storm Eye Institute at MUSC.

A specialist in vision and glaucoma research, Dr. Crosson has received grant funding from the National Eye Institute (NIH) for 15 consecutive years. Through Dr. Crosson’s leadership, Storm Eye Institute’s research program has gained national recognition and continues to be a leader in vision research.

After earning baccalaureate and doctorate degrees from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Dr. Crosson served on the faculty at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, and at Baylor College of Medicine in The Woodlands, Texas.  He also worked as an Instructor and Research Associate at Louisiana State University Medical Center, School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Author of numerous abstracts, articles, chapters and books, and owner of several patents, Dr. Crosson is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics and serves on several committees at MUSC and NIH. He also is a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the International Society for Eye Research, and the Society for Neuroscience.
